School Sustainability Day (SSD), taking place on Friday 6th June 2025, is all about empowering schools to take small but meaningful steps toward a greener future. For Uniformd, School Sustainability Day is more than just a one-day event, it’s a national call to action for schools, parents, and pupils to build sustainability into the everyday of school life.
Why School Sustainability Day matters
We launched School Sustainability Day because we believe real change happens through collective action. Schools lead the way for pupils by shaping habits, building awareness, and fostering community values around sustainability from an early age.
Whether it’s promoting second-hand school uniforms, cutting down on single-use plastics, or simply walking to school, School Sustainability Day encourages schools to choose practical, achievable actions that reduce environmental impact and support long-term climate goals.
And to make this easier, we’ve pulled together a list of free UK-based resources designed to help teachers and parents bring sustainability into the classroom and home.

Free resources for teaching sustainability
