New nationwide initiative empowers schools, teachers, parents, and pupils to embrace sustainability on June 6th, 2025
London, 08.05.25 – Uniformd, the UK’s leading free marketplace for second-hand school uniforms, has announced the launch of School Sustainability Day 2025, taking place on Friday, June 6th. This brand-new initiative encourages schools, teachers, parents, and pupils to commit to one small action to help create a more sustainable school environment.
From reducing waste and reusing uniforms to promoting eco-conscious habits, school sustainability day aims to show that small changes can make a big impact.
A call to action for schools and communities
Uniformd is inviting schools and their communities to get involved by committing to at least one sustainable action for the day. Examples include:
- Encouraging pre-loved uniform donations to reduce textile waste
- Hosting lessons on sustainability and climate awareness
- Organising walk-to-school campaigns to cut carbon emissions
- Running plastic-free or waste-free lunch initiatives
Additionally, participating schools will gain access to exclusive partner offers, including free Entrepreneurship resources, mental health and wellbeing tools and sustainability networks.

Why sustainability in schools matters
The education sector plays a vital role in promoting reuse, recycling, and responsible consumption. School Sustainability Day is a movement to help tackle this issue, ensuring that future generations grow up with sustainability at the heart of their learning.
“Schools are at the heart of every community, and by taking simple steps towards sustainability, they can make a huge difference,” said Anna Wright, Founder at Uniformd. “School Sustainability Day is more than 24 hours; it’s about inspiring long-term change. We’re calling on schools, PTAs, parents, and pupils to get involved and show that sustainability matters.”
